Under the Umbellifers

This song is about falling to the spell of a willow tree whilst taking a rest under its branches. The tree takes the singer into the kingdom of plants to look at it through their eyes, and appreciate how alive it is in a different way to the world we know as human. The song title comes from the Umbelliferae family, which is now known as Apiaceae and includes cow parsley, hemlocks and carrots amongst 3700 other species. Umbelliferous describes the shape of the flowers which are like umbrellas, with small infloresences radiating from a single point.

I wrote this song in the middle of the night after having a dream as exactly the lyrics describe, it was an inspired moment and only took a small amount of tweaking the next morning to have the completed story!
